It took more than 3 years to get the benefit of 78.2% to the BSNL retirees. Some comrades ask " why so much delay?". Getting Finance Ministry's approval for a benefit of rs 500 to 600 crores is not that much easy.Officers in telecom did a lot of work to get the decision by the Cabinet.The Cabinet note was drafted and re - drafted for atleast 6 times. It is very very rare.Many discussions were held between officers at high level. References were made to other ministries.References were received back from them.
Ministers intervened . More than 30 MPs intervened. Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Intervened. It all happened only because of our efforts. Some people claim that everything started moving after they met the Secretary Telecom on 01-05-2015. It is totally false. The process started in 2013 itself.
our vice president Com.D.Gopalakrishnan obtained all the details from the Department of Telecom officially utilising Right To Information Act. The documents run in to 150 pages with many more Data. Based on the inputs from the documents 
After issuance of 'Presindential Directive' on 10-06-2013 by DOT for giving the benefits of 50% IDA merger to serving employees, we wrote to Secretary Telecom immediately on 11-06-2013 and pursued continiously. Though many other associations also took up that issue later, our approach was concrete and result oriented.
